Joel has served as an attorney since 2007, practicing law for over seventeen years in West Virginia. Throughout his almost two decades of experience, he has gained a wealth of knowledge in multiple areas of the law.
During his legal career, Joel has obtained single-case settlements of over one million dollars for multiple clients in civil litigation matters and was the West Virginia Title Lead for a Fortune 500 Company where he resolved complex real estate issues. Joel has been fortunate enough to handle the adoption of hundreds of children throughout the state. Joel also has experience with estate planning, wills, and other legal issues. Having grown up in a small, rural town, Joel enjoys the day-to-day interactions with clients and practicing law in the beautiful community of Spencer.
Kristin Pena

Kristin was born and raised in Gandeeville, West Virginia, where she still resides. Kristin brings nearly two decades of hands-on experience providing clients with seamless and efficient real estate closings, all while wearing a genuine smile and enjoying client interactions. Kristin possesses a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a huge commitment to client satisfaction, all of which are the basis of her successful career in the real estate industry. Kristin prides herself on always providing personalized service and guidance to each client, ensuring that real estate transactions are handled with the utmost professionalism and care.
In her free time, Kristin enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, hiking, golfing, and trying out new recipes in the kitchen. Kristin strives to bring positivity and laughter into the lives of those around her, and she enjoys helping her community in any way possible.
Michaela Hogg
Title Agent
Michaela is the title agent here at Alpha Title & Escrow and is currently finishing her final year as a 3L in the hybrid J.D. program at LMU Duncan School of Law. Before moving into the title and escrow industry, she worked in victim advocacy, case management, grant work, and other legal-focused roles that helped shape her practical and client-centered approach.
At Alpha, Michaela works closely with clients throughout the closing process and is involved in the day-to-day operations of the office. She values clear communication, attention to detail, and creating an experience that feels professional while still personal and approachable.
Born and raised in West Virginia, Michaela cares deeply about community and building genuine relationships with the people she works with. Outside of work, she’s a proud boy mom who enjoys baking, traveling, creative projects, keeping up with combat sports, and spending time with the people she loves

Meet Penny, our beloved office dog and the pawsitively charming face of Human Resources! As the designated greeter, she’s always ready to welcome you with a wagging tail and a warm smile. With her extensive expertise in opening and inspecting Amazon packages, she ensures every delivery is thoroughly vetted and approved before it reaches our desks. When she’s not busy critiquing packaging techniques, you can find her lounging in her cozy corner or participating in very important “team bonding” sessions (a.k.a. nap time). Penny believes that every day is a great day for treats and tail wags, and she’s here to make your day a little brighter!
